What has changed, particularly in prestigious universities, is the increased competition for internships, top professors, and majors. We focus on helping distinguish you from the pack once you are admitted and giving you the skills and dispositions to engage with faculty, access the High Impact Practices early on in your college years.
My friends say that middle and high school resumes or having a LinkedIn profile does not matter. Is that true?
Not necessarily. The idea of a resume, CV (curriculum vitae), or LinkedIn is to document experiences and accompaniments in a concise manner. It also shows that a young person is already thinking clearly about a career and mastering a sets of skills and competencies that are valued in the workplace. So even if there is not too much to report, it is a good exercise and reminder that a resume is typically how you introduce yourself to the next opportunity.

Now that my child is in college, we are still determining which courses she should choose. She is undecided, but all her friends have already declared a major and two minors. Is she already behind?
Universities that offer an extended time to explore are really on the right track for the new economy. Being undecided can be liberating so long as you are seeking the best professors in a variety of courses. If I transfer, will my previous test scores count?
